He is buried in the Warrenton Cemetery. “…[M]y grandmother, Anne Brown Conway Downman, b. 1873[NOTE:variation on name, dif yob],… said that… my great-grandfather was with Lee at Appomatox. When I was there, his name was not on the registry of those who surrendered. Now I am thinking that he was one of the Black Horse Cavalry who did not surrender.”[1232]
